“Ah, now. Wow. Everything just seems… just… you can start to see the sunshine rising a little, little bit each time you do something, each step you take a bit further to… another day gone by, you can see the sun rising a little bit more. I’d never, ever touch it if you paid me a million pound and that is… I get by on obviously my boyfriend going to work. He goes to work at nine, don’t come home til six at night but it’s only forty, fifty quid but… it’s earned, decent money. And you spend it more… you think about it, we got a baby on the way so how can we kind of budget it? And you think more. When you’re making kind of, illegal money and… I used to scrunch money up, like two hundred pound in my hand and have no appreciation for money whatsoever… now, I have to… because if I don’t know the meaning of understanding… how the ‘ell am I gonna show her?”
“My family. Uh… my dignity. Probably that’s the worst for me. That’s probably the worst to cope with now… is what I put my mum and dad through, my sister, you know? Definitely. You know, my mum was living at her… one thing that kills me the most is like, I was at my mum’s house, yeah, living at my mum’s. I was out robbin’ and everything obviously because I was on gear and that. I used to inject. And I went back to my mum’s and she was at work so of course I went into my bedroom, um, obviously doing what I was doing. Next thing… I obviously… got it in my arm and the next thing, the door’s flung open, man, and it’s my mum and my mum is stood there and I’ve got a needle stuck out my arm, man. You know? I mean, she knew I was on drugs and she knew I was injecting but to actually see it… but she just honestly… I’ll never forget it. Never, ever in my life will I forget that. She just absolutely burst out crying. Like, honestly just… fell to the floor, fell on her knees… and all I done was turn ‘round and carry on. Because that’s all that mattered.”
